Materials for the Homebound
Dora Waterman's Story
Homebound patron Dora Waterman says she could not exist if it weren’t for the public library. Dora has macular degeneration, and is somewhat hearing impaired as well. She always loved to read, but when her eyesight went bad she could no longer navigate her beloved books and newspapers.
But she can listen, and now she receives audiobooks from the public library through the mail. Dora said that Portage County Public Library has treated her royally and has been kind to her in every way. In fact, she says she can’t think of one negative thing to say about PCPL; and so books continue to have a special place in Dora’s life.
